Mr. George T. Catapano, of Waltham, died Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in Care One Lexington. He was 79.
George was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1944 in Boston a son of the late John and Margaret (Letorney) Catapano. A lifelong Waltham resident he was involved the GWARC program and enjoyed various job assignments from maintenance and envelope filling and coordination. He later worked with the Aging Well Program.
He was social and affable by nature and would often sit outside enjoying the nicer weather and was certain to greet and say hello to those passing by. He loved all sports especially hockey, baseball and football. Through GWARC recreation her enjoyed bird house making and the countless arts and crafts projects.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased but his siblings, John, Michael and Maryann Catapano and his brother-in-law, Angelo Viselle.
George leaves his siblings, Carole Viselle with whom he lived, April and Thomas Catapano, all of Waltham, Josephine Catapano of Framingham; nieces and nephew, Joan Catapano, John Catapano and Tracey Catapano; great-nieces & nephews, Thomas Catapano, Vanessa Cruz, Julia Gaudet, Angie Cruz, Armani Linares, Yeli Garcia, Naiya Loaiza, Gabriella Catapano, Michaela Rippin, Anthony 'Ant' Catapano, Anthony Catapano.
Family and friends will honor and remember George’s life by gathering for Morning Wake on Tuesday, December 3rd from 10 – 11 a.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, followed by his Funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
