Gail was born on February 21, 1944, and was a product of the noted “Kerry Corner” section of Cambridge, with its concentration of Irish immigrants from County Kerry, Ireland. She grew up on Aberdeen Avenue in the Cambridge Highlands, overlooking Fresh Pond. She attended Russell Elementary School, then Matignon High School in Cambridge, and graduated from Merrimack College in 1965 with a B.A. in English.
She then joined the Papal Volunteers, a Catholic version of the Peace Corps, and taught fourth graders at Waipahu School in Hawaii. In 1968 she married Daniel Charles Leclerc of Manchester, New Hampshire, a fellow classmate at Merrimack. Gail enjoyed a 30-plus-year career as a student advisor at Northeastern University, and was an active member of the Paulist Center on Park Street in Boston for most of her adult life.
She was the beloved wife of Daniel Charles Leclerc. She was the devoted mother of Jonathan Leclerc and his wife, Kristen, of Northborough, and Elizabeth Mills and her husband, Jeffrey, of Andover. She was the loving grandmother of Anna, Adam, and Katherine Leclerc, and Courtney and Colin Mills. She was the sister of the late Joan Fitzmaurice. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
