Frank J. Miani, Sr., of Waltham, died Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. He was 86.
Frank was born in Waltham on November 16, 1939, the only son of the late James A. and Eleanor P. (Dentino) Miani, and had been a lifelong resident. A graduate of Waltham High School he went on to the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston where he earned an engineering degree. Specializing in microwave satellite communication, he worked for MACOM for many years until his retirement.
Frank always looked forward to trips to Dennisport in Cape Cod and Laconia, New Hampshire where he enjoyed peace, relaxation, and most importantly quality time spent with family. More than anything else he loved being "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren. Additionally, he was a talented trumpeter in Waltham's American Legion Band.
He leaves his beloved wife, Judith L. (Warner) Miani; his children, Frank J. Miani, Jr. (Carri) of Georgetown, Julie A. Leonard (William) of Waltham, and Barbara J. O'Hara (Karl) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Samantha Rosenblum (Allyson), Grace Miani, Melissa Leonard, William Leonard, Jr., Allison Duarte (A.J.), Michaela O'Hara, and Joseph O'Hara and his sister-in-law, Barbara McBreen of Westford.
Family and friends will honor and remember Frank's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 11th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be private.
