Mr. Francis M. Blash, of Whitinsville, formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness. He was 62.
Fran was born on June 17, 1961 in Berlin, Germany, a son of the late Francis and Else (Schulze) Blash. He moved to the United States at the age of two, settling in Worcester. He graduated from Worcester Vocational High School in 1979.
He worked as a carpenter supervisor for many local companies in the Worcester area.
Fran was also a talented singer and had a lifelong passion for music. He was lead singer in several local bands including ‘Killer Queen’, a cover band for the band ‘Queen’. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing from his canoe. He had many happy memories of cooking, drinking mai tais, and lounging on the porch with friends Brian and Lew.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his only brother, Dan Blash.
He leaves his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Blash of Auburn; his niece Ellen Blash of Auburn; his nephews Daniel Blash (Amber Bulpitt) of Warwick, RI and James Blash (Erin Doherty) of Nashua, New Hampshire. His aunt Nellie Petersen and his close cousins Cindy Henley and Karen Coresh of Miami, Florida will miss him as well.
Per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held in North Cemetery in Oxford at the convenience of the family.
