Frances V. (Corea) Novello

February 14, 1921 — September 30, 2021

Arlington – Mrs. Frances V. (Corea) Novello, of Arlington, passed away peacefully at her home with family attending to her. Fran was 100.

She was born in Boston, the youngest of five children born to the late Vitaliano and Genoveffa (Caruso) Corea, and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. After that she went to Boston Clerical School.

Prior to World War II, Fran traveled to Washington, D.C. to work for the Food and Drug Administration where she enjoyed the adventure of experiencing a new place and connecting with relatives there.

Returning to Boston, she applied her math and other skills at the Waterman Steamship Company where she met her husband, Edward G. Novello after the war. They married in 1948 and started a California adventure to several towns, with trips back East, finally settling in Arlington in 1960, their lifelong home. Fran and Ed enjoyed fifty-seven happy years of marriage.

Fran returned to the workforce after being a dedicated and loving homemaker, becoming an extraordinary administrative assistant for twenty-four years at an international consulting firm, where she made many lifelong friends and had been a member of the organization's alumni association.

Fran was also active at Saint Camillus Church in Arlington where she volunteered as the longtime administrator of the parish C.C.D. program. She was also a member and former Prefect of the Ladies Sodality, and encouraged her husband and sons to serve as well on the altar, in the choir and band, and as ushers.

The family enjoyed memorable summers apart from work on Cape Cod, where Fran and Ed took in the relaxation of sun, surf, and neighbors, riding the waves together at Dowses Beach in Osterville.

She will long be remembered for her genuine smile and positive outlook on life, and her steadfast devotion to faith, family and friendships.

Fran leaves her children, John J. Novello of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Lawrence Novello of Concord, Dana Novello of Arlington and James W. Novello of Woburn; her granddaughter, Tessa Novello and many nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition of her husband and parents, joining her in heaven are her sisters and brothers, Nicholas Corea, Eleanor Setterberg, Edward Corea and Gena Alibrandi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Fran's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, October 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Camillus Church, 1185 Concord Turnpike, Arlington where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
