Waltham

Eve H. (Primpas) Welts, of Waltham, died Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 97.

Born in Boston on June 23, 1929, she was the daughter of Vasilios and Catina (Pavlis) Primpas. Raised in Canton, she graduated valedictorian of Canton High School in 1946 and went on to Boston University, where she earned both her undergraduate degree and her master’s in social work, graduating in 1951.

In 1952 she married Paul Harriman and began raising a family, first in Newton and then in Park Ridge, Illinois, where she raised her three children and started her career in social work at the Park Ridge School for Girls. In 1966 she returned to Massachusetts with her children and settled in Waltham, which she would call home for the rest of her life.

That same year she married Jeremy Welts. The two shared 34 years together before his death in 2000, much of it spent traveling and making music — Eve at the piano, Jeremy on the trombone. Back in Massachusetts, she worked as a social worker at McLean Hospital for nearly two decades before opening a private practice, seeing clients until she was 82.

Music and art stayed with her all her life. She loved the piano and had a deep appreciation for jazz, keeping a membership with Jazz at Lincoln Center that took her to many live concerts and events. She was also a longtime member of the Waltham Camera Club, another outlet for her creative and artistic eye.

The wife of the late Jeremy Welts, Eve is survived by her daughters, Debbie Quagliozzi and Katherine Lhota and her husband, Frank, all of Waltham; her son, Paul Harriman III and his wife, Jan Ellen, of London, England; her stepson, Dana Welts and his wife, Valerie, of Pittsfield; her grandchildren, Riah, Matthew, Leslie, Julia Eve, Jeremy, Alexander, Evan, Faye, Jonathan, and Daniel; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Max, and Anna. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Eve was also predeceased by her siblings, Charles Primpas, Poppy Brunker and Louis Primpas.

Services for Eve will be private.
