Waltham - Esther M. (Abrahamian) Brackesy, passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2026. She was 83.
Born on April 22, 1943, in Watertown, Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Agnes (Healey) Abrahamian. Esther spent the last 54 years of her life in Waltham, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and family. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for those she loved and creating a warm and welcoming home for all who entered.
Esther had a passion for baking, and her homemade desserts became a cherished part of countless family gatherings over the years. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, always filled with the comforting smell of something baking and the sound of family gathered together.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Brackesy (April 1, 2020) with whom she shared 55 beautiful years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her brother, Fred “Butch” Abrahamian, and her sister, Gail Abrahamian.
Esther is survived by her loving children, Lisa A. Loring and her husband, Mike, of Watertown, Paul J. Brackesy and his wife, Kristine, of Waltham, Cheryl L. Coppola and her husband, Larry, of Framingham and Steven E. Brackesy of Wakefield, who always joked he was her favorite. She was the proud grandmother of four treasured grandchildren: Brian, Nicholas, Lili, and Brianna. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Evelyn Forbes, with whom she shared a uniquely close and lifelong bond as well as her brother, David Abrahamian, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Esther will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, generosity, and the deep love she gave so freely to her family. Her distinct, infectious laugh was a staple of family gatherings, carrying a warmth that could be felt from across any room. She adored her role as Nana, celebrating every milestone and cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created the traditions she passed down, and the family she cherished above all else.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Esther's life in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) on Thursday, July 2nd from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne is private.
