December 12, 1931 — May 16, 2026

Northborough, MA

Northborough - Mrs. Estelle C. (Cormier) Lahey, formerly of Waltham, York Beach, Maine, and Hudson, died Saturday, May 16, 2026 in The Coleman House. She was 94.

Estelle was born in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston on December 12, 1931, a daughter of the late Alban and Elodie (Pellerin) Cormier.

She was a graduate of the former Saint Pierre School in Waltham, where she belonged to the drill team of the Society of the Assumption. Following her time there she moved to New Brunswick, Canada to further her education at the Immaculate Conception Convent with plans to enter religious life. Plans for her vocation changed however, when she met George while back in Waltham on summer break. She met him while working at Grover Cronin’s on Moody Street and knew she had met her match; the pair married on November 25, 1950 in Saint Joseph’s Church in Waltham and enjoyed many happy years together until his death on May 8, 1985.

In addition to living in Waltham in her younger years, she was a resident of York Beach, Maine for more than 30 years before moving to Hudson. She worked at the Waltham Watch Factory and was a past member of the Waltham French Club, York Senior Center and Hudson Senior Center.

Estelle was known for her wonderful sense of humor and loved to play all kinds of games with family and friends. She enjoyed playing the violin with her family of musicians and even sang with the Grover Cronin Choir. She always looked forward to her many trips to New Brunswick to visit family and made many friends from Waltham, York Beach and Hudson.

Estelle’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Coleman House, Northborough for their excellent care and compassion.

In addition to her parents, and husband, the late George N. Lahey, Estelle was predeceased by her siblings, Baby Aline, Gerard, Alban, Leonard, Norman, Robert Cormier and Eileen Carl.

She leaves her daughters, Sandra A. Mitchell (Richard) and Kathleen M. Hassett, both of Hudson; her grandchildren, Joy Collier (Jason), Robert Hassett (Kelley), and Michelle Polatty (Will); her great grandchildren, Conor and Murphy Polatty, Ava, Kacie, Danny and Noah Collier, and Leo Hassett; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Family and friends will honor and remember Estelle’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon on Friday, May 22nd at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham followed by her funeral service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
