Elizabeth A. Arnold

Waltham – Mrs. Elizabeth A. ‘Betty’ (Cummiskey) Arnold, of Waltham, died Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.  She was 80.

Betty was born in Waltham on March 31, 1943, a daughter of the late Raymond and Eloise (LeBlanc) Cummiskey and had been a lifelong resident.  She was a 1960 graduate of Saint Charles High School. Her wide circle of close friends included several with whom she attended the parish grade school.

In April 1964, she married Air Force veteran Harold L. Arnold in Saint Charles Borromeo Church and the pair enjoyed fifty-seven happy years together until Harold’s death in April 2021.

For years Betty worked at Waltham City Hall as a payroll supervisor and benefits coordinator. Her kind and friendly nature and deep knowledge of her field earned many admirers and friends who she helped navigate along the way.

Betty and Harold shared many of the same interests including local politics, Broadway shows and musicals and traveling.

She leaves her daughters, Anne Arnold (Rocky Morrison) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Janet Vanaria (Richard) of Lowell and Patricia Arnold (Scott Wedekind) of Waltham, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Betty was also a sister of the late Raymond Cummiskey, Sr. Ruth Cummiskey, CSJ and Margaret Storlazzi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Betty’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham Sunday, January 7th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
