Dr. Claire P. Kaweesa

Dr. Claire Kaweesa, of Braddock Hills, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. 

She is survived by her sisters and brothers, many nieces and nephews, grandkids, and friends. Claire emigrated from Uganda over 50 years ago and supported many family members who made their homes nearby and across the country. She completed her bachelors degree at Carlow University, masters degree in microbiology at Duquesne University, and obtained her PhD in education from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked for UPMC for many years until her retirement in 2014. 

Claire was God-loving, hard working, and a strong advocate for education. She was always up-to-date on politics and also enjoyed watching Pittsburgh Steelers football. Her family will remember her warmth and care, her generous heart, her loyal friendship, and her peaceful soul.

Family and friends will honor and remember Claire’s life by gathering for a visitation at Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, on Saturday, August 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, followed immediately by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
