Mrs. Dorothy (Underhill) Taylor, formerly of Lincoln, Ma, died peacefully with family by her side at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell on Monday July 21, 2025. She was 94.
Dorothy who always went by Dot, was born on August 1, 1930 in Newton, daughter of the late John H. and Marion (Kelsey) Underhill. Dot was predeceased by her siblings John H. Underhill Jr. and Carolyn (Underhill) Harmon. She was a graduate of Beaver Country Day School, Briarcliff Junior College and Katharine Gibbs.
Dot loved traveling as a young adult, highlights were stories of her and her friends taking her mom’s car and driving cross country, a girl friend road trip, what fun! Also traveling on the Queen Mary from NY to France and back in the early 1950’s. Dot and Royce loved to travel, especially with Dot’s sister Carolyn and her husband Ken, Royce’s best friend since college.
She married W. Royce Taylor III on August 27, 1955. Residents of Lincoln since 1957, Royce passed on May 26, 2021, Dot then moved to The Arbor’s in Dracut in May of 2024, and to D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell in December of 2024.
Dot worked at the First National Bank of Boston prior to her marriage. After her children were grown, she worked at the Lincoln Old Town Hall Exchange and volunteered at the Lincoln Council on Aging and served on their Board for many years.
Dot was an active member in her younger years of The First Parish in Lincoln, and the Waltham Jaycees, making many lifelong friends. She enjoyed golf, bowling, skiing, skating, gardening and walking. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother in Lincoln for many years. Dot was also a 3rd generation member of the Brae Burn Country Club located in Newton Mass and her childhood home was on top of the ninth hole.
She leaves her daughter Carolyn (Taylor) Casey and son in-law, the late Tom of Methuen, son W. Royce Taylor 4th and daughter in-law Liz of Nashua, NH and daughter Janet (Taylor) Fish and son in-law Chuck of Southlake, TX. She also leaves behind six grandchildren Victoria Casey, Alexandra Casey, Daniel Taylor, James Taylor, Kelsey (Fish) Meade and husband Zach, Myles Fish, and fiancé Sarah.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Funeral services and burial will be private.
