Dorothy E. (Kingston) Cusack

March 28, 1925 — April 18, 2022

Mrs. Dorothy E. (Kingston) Cusack of Waltham died Monday, April 18, 2022 in her home. She was 97.

Dorothy was born in Boston on March 28, 1925, the daughter of Samuel and Agnes (Lane) Kingston. She was raised in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School. She lived in Brighton most of her life, moving to Newton in 1990, and lastly, living in Waltham for the past 18 years. Graduating at the height of WWII she immediately went to work as a welder at Raytheon to support the war effort. Later she worked for many years as a waitress at a number of Brighton's dining establishments and delivered for Meals on Wheels.

Dorothy always believed that if you give a hug…you get a hug! She will be lovingly remembered for her terrific sense of humor, warm and engaging personality and love for her family and friends. She also loved to travel, spending many happy summers with her children at Swift Beach in Wareham, and in the latter half of her life, had the opportunity to see the world. She traveled all over with friends and family by her side…and now she is 'Safe Home'.

Dorothy leaves her children William 'Bill' Taylor of Waltham, Joseph 'Jody' Taylor (Kathleen) of Alton Bay, NH, Thomas Taylor (Lisa) of Waltham, Judith Aleman (Fred) of Newton, and Patricia Cusack of Newton. Her grandchildren, Joseph Taylor, Jr. (Donna), Brian Taylor, Julie Fisk (Russell), Kerry Collins (Dennis), Jennifer Shinnick (Mark), Thomas Taylor, Jr. (Renee Rachon), Matthew Taylor, and Brooke Taylor. Sister of Jean Mellin of Belchertown. Also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband William Vincent Cusack; her son Richard P. Taylor; her brothers, Harry, Paul, and Richard Kingston; and her stepdaughters, Mary Martha Cusack-Reagan and Joanne Cusack-McBride.
