Dennis P. Quinn, of Waltham, died Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 73.
Dennis was born in Waltham on February 13, 1952, a son of the late Francis J. and Louise M. (Burley) Quinn, and had been a lifelong resident. After graduating from Waltham High School he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bentley College in Waltham.
While he was still in college he went to work at Waltham City Hall, first as an accountant, then as an assistant auditor before becoming the city’s auditor. He retired in 2011 as Waltham's finance chief after serving the city for forty years.
Dennis was a longtime member of the board of directors for the Waltham Municipal Credit Union.
He spent many happy summers with his family at their beach house in Eastham and on camping and hiking excursions in Maine and New Hampshire.
He leaves his wife of forty-eight years, Kathleen M. (O'Toole) Quinn; his children, Jeffrey D. Quinn (Lisa) of Akron, Ohio, David M. Quinn (Christin Marshall) of Bourne and Shannon K. Meyer (David) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Elizabeth and Stella Quinn and Raegan and Evan Meyer; his brother and sister, Paul Quinn of Framingham and Marian Giovannini of Columbia, Connecticut and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Dennis was also a brother of the late Francis J. Quinn, Jr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dennis's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, December 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
