Dennis G. Gaudet, of Waltham, passed away, surrounded by his children, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. He was 54.
Born and raised in Waltham, Dennis was the son of George and Linda (McAndrews) Gaudet of Waltham. He graduated from Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Lexington, where he trained in the electrical program.
Dennis was, above all else, a worker. Over a career with construction and demolition companies across the area, he did a bit of everything, laborer, heavy equipment operator, handyman, and he did all of it well. A proud member of the Laborers' union and Operating Engineers Local 4, he was the kind of man who could build it, fix it, or take it down, and he was never more at home than on a job site with his boots on.
He simply could not sit still, and he never wanted to. When he wasn't working, he was on his Harley. Riding was his great love, and his best days were spent on the road with his brothers and his friends, up to Laconia for Bike Week, or out to Salisbury Beach, which was never really about the beach; it was an excuse for the ride. Even in his last days, he was still trying to get up and go somewhere.
He had a stubborn streak and a sharp, sarcastic wit that, together, made him one of the funniest people in any room, usually with a straight face, and usually when you least expected it. He was never the most social person in that room, but he kept a large and loyal circle of close friends, a circle that, as his family will tell you, owed more than a little to his two very social brothers.
Dennis was a simple man who cared deeply about the people in his life. He was a devoted son who took great care of his mother, and to his children he was, in their words, absolutely a great dad. His life was his work, his bike, and his family.
Dennis is survived by his children, Dennis W. Gaudet, Brenden Gaudet and Julia Gaudet, all of Waltham, and Briana Gaudet of Framingham; his parents, George and Linda Gaudet of Waltham; his brothers, Michael Gaudet of Waltham and Kevin Gaudet of Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dennis's life by gathering for an evening wake in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Monday, November 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., and again on Tuesday morning, November 3, when his funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
