Denise M. Melanson

October 7, 1969 — August 1, 2023

Waltham

Denise M. Melanson, of Waltham, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 53 years old.

Denise was born on October 7, 1969 to James Paul Sr. & Carol Ann (Pictour) Melanson in Waltham, where she was also raised and educated. Throughout her career, she held various positions, but found great joy and fulfillment as an office manager at a local biotech firm.

As her children, Christopher and Jessica, grew up, Denise happily transitioned into the role she cherished the most - that of a loving mother. She was always there with words of encouragement and support for her children. They will forever remember her unwavering presence at their baseball and basketball games, as well as all the other milestones that marked their journey through life. Having their mom by their side, guiding them every step of the way, made all the difference in the world to Christopher and Jessica.

Denise had a deep passion for music and one of her brothers even arranged a private concert by 3 Doors Down during a trip to Florida – an experience that brought her immense joy.

In her free time, Denise loved going on trips with her family to the Berkshires and down to Florida - especially when it meant spending time with her mother and brothers who lived there.

Denise is survived by her son Christopher J. MacNeil (Teresa) and daughter Jessica Melanson, both of Waltham; her adored grandchildren Brian, Cayden and Zoe; her longtime companion John F. Arsenault of Waltham; her beloved mother Carol A. (Pictour) Melanson of New York; and her siblings Mark J. Melanson, Kenneth J. Melanson, and Glen T. Melanson, all of Florida. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Denise was preceded in death by her father James P. Melanson, Sr., her brothers James P. Melanson, Jr., and her brother David M. Melanson.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Denise's life during calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, located at 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, August 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. There will also be a funeral service on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
