Deborah “Debbie” (Ryan) Demopoulos, 71, passed away peacefully at Avita of Newburyport on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Born on August 19, 1954, in Brighton, Debbie grew up in Newton and attended the Newton Public Schools. Her early years in the close-knit community of Newton laid the foundation for a life filled with warmth, connection, and enduring friendships. During her earlier years, she worked at Intronics, Hewlett Packard and Raytheon.

Family was at the heart of Debbie’s world. She is survived by her beloved sister, Patricia Maslen of Newburyport; her sister-in-law, Priscilla Ryan of Tewksbury; her husband’s children, Lisa David and her husband Gary of North Sutton, New Hampshire, Chris Demopoulos of Woburn, Lenny Demopoulos of Medway and Michael Demopoulos. She also leaves her nieces, Pamela Maslen and her husband Jonathan Nellis of Silver Spring, Maryland, Julia Maslen of Falmouth, Maine and her former husband and dear friend Cory White of Portland Maine, Dawn Ryan and her wife Julia Bruk of Brooklyn,New York, Lorrie Merlos; her nephew, John Ryan and his wife Lisa of Tewksbury and her great-nieces Vanessa, Fiona, Alanna, Molly, Mia, Annie, Delilah, Alex and Isabella; her great-nephews Kyle, Sean, David, and Aiden; her dear friends, Maria Martinangelo of Waltham and Maureen Physic of Summerville South Carolina.

Debbie was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Demopoulos, her parents, John and Doris Ryan, her cherished brothers, John Ryan and David Ryan, and her great niece, Michele Lewis.

Debbie’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by those she loved. Whether hosting holiday gatherings in her cozy Waltham home or enjoying summer barbecues by her pool, she created spaces filled with laughter, comfort, and joy. Her home was a haven where memories were made and bonds were strengthened.

She shared many beautiful years with her wonderful husband Ted Demopoulos. His love brought her deep comfort and happiness throughout their time together. His passing left a profound void in her life that she carried with grace.

An animal lover through and through, Debbie cared for numerous cats over the years but held a special place in her heart for her sweet dog Charlie. Her compassion extended beyond people to all living beings who crossed her path.

Debbie had a gift for connection. She treasured long telephone conversations that allowed her to stay close to those she loved. Her voice was a source of comfort to many.

Known for her generosity of spirit, Debbie showered those around her with kindness, love, and praise. She had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special, beautiful, and valued. To Debbie, the people in her life were not just important—they were everything.

May Debbie’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
