David Sawyer

David Sawyer, 75, of Waltham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025. Born in Bangor, Maine on July 11, 1949, David lived a life full of humor, passion, and unwavering love for his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Eleanor Sawyer; his brothers, Kenneth and Gilbert; and two stepchildren, Paul O’Brien and Erin Ishamel.

David is survived by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Carol Sawyer, who was the heart of his world. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren: Susan Benes, Laura Gleim, Colleen Hebert, and Terrence O’Brien and his wife Jen. He is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Nancy and her husband James, and Dorothy. David was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many, and his warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David had a zest for life and simple pleasures. He loved visiting the casino, attending concerts, and watching Paul Newman’s car races—a passion that combined his appreciation for speed, skill, and classic Americana.

David also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force in Indonchia during the Vietnam Era.

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His humor, his stories, and his enduring love have left a lasting mark.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life.
