David A. Johnstone

September 5, 1942 — November 10, 2021

Mr. David A. Johnstone, of Arundel, Maine, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Huntington Common in Kennebunk, Maine. He was 79.

David was born on September 5, 1942 in Waltham one of six children to the late Hector and Stella (Lewis) Johnstone. Raised and educated in Waltham he later married Judith K. Thorne on June 10, 1967 in Beth Eden Baptist Church on Maple Street where they remained active members. Lifelong Waltham residents, they moved to Arundel, Maine in 2008. Judith died June 28, 2019.

David served in the National Guard Reserves and worked at Abbott Ford. He was an employee for the City of Waltham in its Parks and Recreation Department for over 35 years, retiring in 2002. Work projects included snow making for Prospect Hill Ski Area and maintaining the various playgrounds and ball fields throughout the city as well as painting lines on the playing fields.

He had a keen interest and was a collector of antique cars, his most notable and prized possession was his 1956 Ford Thunderbird.

In addition to his late wife, Judith, he was predeceased by his siblings, Harold and Linton Johnstone, Aileen Plamondon, Audrey Nichols and Janet Landry.

He leaves his children, Deborah L. Fasulo (Scott) of Bellingham and Scott D. Johnstone (Mandy) of Waltham; nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering on Tuesday, November 16th in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham where his graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. There are no calling hours.
