David R. Hire

Mr. David R. Hire, of Waltham, died Sunday, September 3, 2023 in Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford after a period of declining health. He was 76.

David was born on November 7, 1946 in Waltham a son of the late Arthur and Olive (Beals) Hire. Raised and educated in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1967. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.  He lived most of his life in Waltham and a short time in Liberty, Maine. David had worked as a machinist.

His interests included attending car shows and enjoyed membership and friendships from the Push Rods Car Club in Waltham. David enjoyed spending time in Maine and going to numerous fairs.

He leaves his brothers, Frederick Hire and his wife, Dorothy of Hudson and Kenneth E. Hire and his wife, Cynthia of Waltham; his nephews, Jason Hire (Iti), Donald Hire (Marianna), Jeremy Hire, Andrew Hire (Erin) and Dean and Stephen Hire (Gail); great-nieces and great-nephews.
