David R. Cannistraro

Mr. David R. Cannistraro, of Plymouth, died at home on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was 74.

David was born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Michael and Marjorie (Leishman) Cannistraro. He was a graduate of Tabor Academy in Marion.

Until his retirement he worked for years at the Massachusetts State Lottery where his affable personality and ready smile earned many friends among co-workers and customers alike.

David possessed a lifelong deep love for the ocean and took every opportunity over the years to go boating off the coast of Salem, the Cape or Plymouth. After his retirement he worked for a number of years at Brook Recovery Centers located on the South Shore.

He leaves his daughter, Sara C. Grant (Thomas) of Plymoth; his grandchildren, Elliot David and Benson Thomas Grant; his former wife, Diane M. Barry Cannistraro and many nieces, nephews and their families.

David was also the brother of the late Donald Cannistraro, Marjorie Doyle and Beverlee Cannistraro.

Family and friends will honor and remember David's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
