Consolazione 'Consolata' Chisari

d. April 11, 2023

Newton, MA

Mrs. Consolata Chisari, aka Consolazione (Sinatra) Chisari of Newton transitioned to her eternal home Tuesday morning, April 11th, 2023 at the age of 94.   Consolata was loved and cared for by her family until her final hours.

Consolata was born on February 7, 1929, in Paterno, Provincia di Catania, a daughter of the late Carmelo and Concetta (Ciaramella) Sinatra and was raised in a loving traditional Italian household.  She married Mario Chisari on June 30, 1956, in Paterno at the town hall by the governor of Sicily.  In 1959 she immigrated to the Boston area.

The quintessential homemaker, Consolata was a talented seamstress, she knit and crocheted countless blankets, sweaters, hats, and booties. She loved gardening and annually canning tomatoes with Mario, sharing them with friends and neighbors. Everyone loved her homemade tomato sauce, trademark soft pizzelles and one of her specialties, her caramelized onion pizzas.

With faith as her foundation, she was devoted to prayer and service to the church. She was often found on the phone praying with individuals. She and her husband, Mario, were one of the founding members of Christian Pentecostal Church of Newton, which is now known as Elevation Chapel.

She was predeceased by her son, Salvatore S. Chisari in 2012 and her siblings, Gaetano Sinatra, Agatha Sinatra Pannitteri, Salvatrice Sinatra Grasso, Barbara Sinatra Bellitto and Giuseppina Sinatra Paterniti.

Consolata leaves her children, Anna M. Dourian (David) of Watertown, Cettina M. Colomba of Newton and Esther C. Lorusso (Stephen) of Weston; her daughter-in-law, Tina Chisari of Newton; her grandchildren, Jason Dourian (Gail), Matthew Dourian (Kristi), Daniel Dourian (Meredith), Mario J. Chisari (Sondra), Sandra Lawry (Daniel), Sarah Jibrin (Michael), Mary Bowen (Rick), Timothy Colomba (Nicole) and Mark Colomba (Marissa), Jared, Emanuel, Elaina and Peter Lorusso; her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nathaniel, Vivia, Salvi, Avaleen, Leo, Eli, Nina, Gerard, Avah, Michael, Hannah, Zarah, Erick, Elizabeth and Benjamin; also survived by nieces & nephews.
