Clara M. “Clare” (Ferranti) Cappello

Weston – Clara M. “Clare” (Ferranti) Cappello, of Weston, died Monday, January 16, 2023 at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 95.

Clare was born in Weston on March 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Delmina (Benotti) Ferranti. Born and raised in Weston she was a graduate of Weston High School. After high school Clare was married to her first husband Joseph R. Cincotta of Waltham from 1951 until his death in 1954. She then worked for a time at Newton-Waltham Bank as the secretary to the auditor, before leaving to raise her family full time. This is where she met John.

Clare married John J. Cappello on May 12, 1956 in Saint Julia's Church in Weston. They resided in Wayland, West Newton and Waltham and then made Weston their family home in 1966. Their 61 years together, before John’s passing in 2017, was a blueprint for what a marriage should be. Their relationship was a true partnership, and the cornerstone was devotion to their family and each other. Whether it was throwing a family party or how they practiced their faith, it was always together. During the busy tax seasons, Clare would assist with data entry to help ease some of the burden on John’s CPA practice. They were also active parishioners at Saint Julia Church, volunteering at the thrift shop and assisting in weekly offertory collections. Their Weston home was always the center of their large family gatherings. Later in life, Clare became her husband’s caregiver, and her devotion allowed John to remain living in their home longer than most would be able to manage.

Above all, Clare loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her Super-Nana. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed an afternoon working in her meticulous garden.

She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Cappello, grandmother of the late Johnathan Lee and a sister of the late Delfo, Delmo, Fernando, and Joseph Ferranti, Ada Morreale, Laura Casella, Mary Cassella, Delmina Subilia and Rosina Napolitano.

She leaves her children, John J. Cappello, Jr. of Worcester, Maryann E. Cappello and her husband, Neil O'Hear of Concord, Robert M. Cappello and his wife, Doreen of Northborough, Thomas J. Cappello of Concord, and Susan M. Lee and her husband, Richard of Billerica; her grandchildren, Tina Cappello, Lisa Donnelly, Meredith O'Hear, Christopher, Ryan, Sean and Joshua Klaiber, Meaghan Pustizzi, Kathleen Estabrooks and Robert Lee; many great-grandchildren; she is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Clare's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 20^th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
