Cheryl A. (Leskoski) Fitzgerald, of Waltham, died Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a short illness. She was 75.

Cheryl A. Leskoski was born on January 10, 1948 in Waltham a daughter of the late Stephen Leskoski and Mildred (Brown) Barnes.  Raised in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1966.

She married Robert M. Fitzgerald on September 21, 1968 in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church and after 51 years, Robert M. Fitzgerald died May 1, 2020. Cheryl was a devoted wife and caretaker for many years after Bob suffered a debilitating stroke and developed many good friendships with staff, residents and families while Bob was at Marist Hill.

Cheryl worked as an administrative assistant in the graduate admissions office for over 30 years at Bentley University, retiring in 2021.

She and Bob spent many happy times aboard their boat ‘Crom Aboo’ and enjoyed the friendships from membership of Watertown Yacht Club where Bob served as past commodore. The ocean was always a place of respite and Cheryl loved Ogunquit, Maine and she loved the read of a good book.

Social by nature she loved the company of her family and friends. Her home on Marlborough Road was often with an openopen-door door policy but Christmas was the most special time for Cheryl. Her home was decorated for the season and Christmas Eve was the highlight. She was a fantastic cook and well-known for her recipes. Cheryl was a faithful follower of her New England Patriots and was always certain to be wearing her Patriots attire during football season.

She leaves her children, Robert M. Fitzgerald (late Sandra J.) of Waltham and Robyn M. Fitzgerald-Reddick and her husband, Bryant of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Justin Fitzgerald (Cassandra Strokus), Ryan and Matthew Fitzgerald, Hannah and Alayna Reddick; her siblings, Stephen Leskoski (late Joanie) of Plymouth, Karen Giardina and her husband, Stephen of Newton and Hugh Barnes and his wife, Rebecca of Waltham; her sister-in-law, Janet Fitzgerald (late James) of Sudbury; nieces and nephews.
