Charles R. Summers

Mr. Charles 'Ron' Summers of West Newton died Wednesday in Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton. He was 66. Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Ira and Rose (Witherspoon) Summers Jr., Mr. Summers was Vice President of Sales for Documentation for R.R. Donnelly and Son in Hudson for many years before his retirement in 1995. Mr. Summers had lived in West Newton for the past 40 years. He was very proud to have served with the U.S. Army. He was also a former player for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He is survived by his wife Eleanor C. (Kiley) Summers and he was the father of Carole L. Summers and her partner Pat Davis of Roslindale, Paul R. Summers and his wife Lisa of Hopkinton and Michael W. Summers of West Newton. He also leaves one brother Terry R. Summers and his wife Carolyn of Harrisburg, PA; two grandchildren, Storm P. Summers and Austin G. Summers and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Service in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
