Charles H. 'Charlie' O'Brien Jr

Mr. Charles H. 'Charlie' O'Brien Jr., of Waltham died on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge. He was 74.

Charlie was born on November 15, 1946 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton a son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Margaret M. 'Dolly' (Garry) O'Brien. A Newton resident he was a graduate of Our Lady's High School with the class of 1964 and then attended Newton Junior College.

He had worked in credit and collections for many years of his professional life including U.S. Alliance Federal Credit Union in Woburn, Jeanna D'Arc Credit Union in Lowell and most recently at M.I.T. Credit Union in Lexington where he was still employed.

An active member of Saint Mary's Parish he volunteered Sunday's with the offering and collections.

He leaves his son, Charles H. O'Brien (Tracey) of Weymouth; his siblings, Patricia A. Kennedy (Arthur) of Natick, Maureen E. McKenna (James) of Ashland and Mark J. O'Brien (Leah) of Plymouth; grandfather of Tarryn and Cormac O'Brien; and uncle of Andrew Lutin and Michael O'Brien.

Family and friends will honor and remember Charlie's life by gathering for a calling hour in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, July 2nd from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
