Charles 'Charlie' Blazejewski

SHREWSBURY - Charles ‘Charlie’ Blazejewski passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on March 21, 2026, after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer. He was 79.

Charles was born on August 15, 1946, in Marlborough, MA, the son of the late Charles and Ann (Kish) Blazejewski. Raised in Marlborough, he was a graduate of Marlborough High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army, and upon honorable discharge, he would go on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Worcester State College. He married Josephine “Joey” Gallant on July 18, 1970, eventually settling in Shrewsbury where they would raise their family and spend the next 50+ years.

Charlie worked in customer service for over 30 years at Bay State Abrasives in Westborough and subsequently at Fallon Health and Tufts Health before retiring. In his retirement, he enjoyed working part time at Home Depot.

Charlie was devoted to his family. He spent time coaching his kids in youth baseball and was always involved in their lives. He enjoyed family gatherings and serving up great food from the grill. In his down time, he loved working out in the yard and tending to his large garden, working in the basement while listening to his old records, and preparing year-round for his favorite holiday, Christmas. He was an avid sports fan rooting for the Patriots and his favorite baseball team since childhood, the Dodgers.

His favorite moments however were with his family. He cherished vacations, road trips, or just a night out to eat or to see a play with his wife, Joey. He cherished his two sons and their families, and perhaps his favorite role was that of Grandpa Charlie, as he was known to his two granddaughters. They were and continued to be his pride and joy of which he was so very proud. He also loved spending time with his 4-legged shadow, Daisy the dog.

Charles leaves his wife of 55 years, Joey, and his children, Greg Blazejewski (Annette Rhodes) of Glendale, AZ and Mark Blazejewski (Maureen) of Dedham, MA; and his 2 beloved grandchildren, Lucy and Emma Blazejewski. He is also survived by his sister Helen Kilday of Nashua, NH and many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Araujo.

Family and friends will honor Charlie's life by gathering for a Morning Wake on Saturday, March 28th from 10 - 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, followed by his funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. A proud veteran, burial will be private at a later date at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
