Charlene M. (Fitzmaurice) Kasper

Mrs. Charlene Margaret (Fitzmaurice) Kasper, of Waltham died peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 87. 

Born on July 26, 1936 in Cambridge she was a daughter of the late William and Katharine (Lynch) Fitzmaurice. Raised in Arlington, she was a graduate of Marycliff Academy and then earned her Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Washington, DC with a degree in economics. She married Belmont native, William J. ‘Bill’ Kasper on October 3, 1959 in Saint Agnes Church. They raised their family in Waltham.

Charlene had a long career in real estate and then went to work for Accenture where she retired in 2009.  Char had many talents and interests.  She was a voracious reader, talented seamstress and knitter, loved her crossword and cryptogram puzzles, and learning new vocabulary words.

She learned to sail in her youth at the Annisquam Yacht club in Gloucester. Winter sailing trips to the British Virgin Islands were annual events for many years. She loved to travel and joined her children and grandchildren on family vacations.

In addition to her husband of 31 years, Bill, she is predeceased by her sister Anne Tierney (late William) and her brother, Robert Fitzmaurice (late Marilyn). 

She leaves her children Katharine Kasper Luppy (Richard) of Waltham, William (Angela Kyn-Kasper) of Boston, Julie Eiermann (Richard) of Sterling, Peter (Florence Zimmerman) of Jamaica Plain; her grandchildren Alexandria Kasper (fiancé Peter Milinazzo), Mia Kasper (fiancé Patrick Shine), Margaret, Owen and George Eiermann, Brian Luppy, Riley, Quinn and Beatrice Kasper and Genevieve Kyn.

Family and friends will honor and remember Charlene’s life by gathering for calling hours on Friday, February 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 3rd in Saint Jude’s Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
