Catherine R. (Butterfield) Doucet

October 6, 1931 — April 29, 2023

Falmouth

Catherine R. (Butterfield) Doucet, of Falmouth and formerly Westford, died Saturday, April 29, 2023 in Royal Nursing Center in Falmouth. She was 91.

Catherine was born in Auburndale on October 6, 1931, a daughter of the late James and Rose (Galvin) Butterfield. She graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1949 and married Russell Doucet on September 25, 1954. The pair shared 39 wonderful years together until his passing on February 23, 1994.

Although a private person by nature, Cay, as she was known to friends and family, also had a way of connecting with people, which she did for many years as a restaurant hostess and in retail. On a visit to China, she was an absolute hit, in spite of the language barrier!

Family was everything to Cay, and she was happiest when around her children and grandchildren, whether attending soccer games, recitals, or other school events, or simply hanging out. Holidays were always a favorite of hers and she was famous for special recipes on those wonderful family occasions – her fudge and cranberry sauce are legend!

In addition to her husband Russell, Catherine was predeceased by her brothers and sister, the late James, John, and Thomas Butterfield, and Ruth Campbell, and her infant daughter, Pamela Doucet.

She leaves her children, Diane E. Regan (Wayne) of Holliston; Kenneth J. Doucet (Wenyan Yang) of New York City; Dennis J. Doucet of North Conway, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Kelsey Earley (Shane), Elizabeth Regan, Philippe Doucet, and Wesley Doucet; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Catherine will be private.
