Catherine Bertrand

Catherine Bertrand, of Watertown, died Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital.  She was 85.

Catherine was born at the Teresian Hospital in Waltham on January 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Amede and Mary (McDonald) Bertrand. She was a lifelong resident of Watertown after moving from Newton at a young age. Catherine graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School and started her career soon after.  She retired as the Labor Relations Manager after thirty-seven years at Raytheon Corporation.

Whether it was one or two people having a visit and a cup of coffee sitting around the kitchen table, or one of the many large family gatherings, more than anything, Catherine loved the company of family and friends. She also loved traveling, especially her many trips to Bermuda and Cape Cod. When she wasn’t on the move, she was probably cozying up to a great new book; most likely a Nicholas Sparks novel. In her later years she got great joy just being out and about on her weekly shopping trips to Target.

Catherine leaves her cousins, Jeanne DeAngelis of West Newton, and Lawrence Gentile of Marlboro along with many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren with whom she was very close.

Family and friends will honor and remember Catherine's life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, November 21st , from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown.
