Bridget A. (Egan) Joyce, of Waltham, formerly of Watertown and native of Co. Galway, Ireland died at home on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

Bridget was born in Athenry, Co. Galway, Ireland a daughter of the late Thady and Julia (Nohilly) Egan. Raised and educated in Ireland she married Timothy Joyce and they immigrated to the United States in August of 1952 settling in Watertown. Longtime Watertown residents they moved to Waltham sixteen years ago.

Affectionately known by family and friends 'Bridie' worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Walter E. Fernald Developmental Center for over 40 years before retiring. Bridie was a long time Boston Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and served as Secretary. She was the founding member of the Eire Og Camogie Clue in Boston and a longtime supporter of the Galway Hurling Club.

In addition to her husband, Timothy she leaves her daughter, Ann Marie Joyce (Haluk Akbudak) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Ronan and Alan Akbudak; her siblings, James Egan of Galway, formerly of Watertown, Mary Sreda of Sharon, Josephine Higgins of Stoneham, Annie Byrd and Theresa Glynn, both of Galway; in-laws, Peter Joyce (Rose) of Queens, New York, Bridget Frazier of Rockport, Paddy Joe Joyce (Kathleen) of Galway, Mary Ellen Costello (Joe) of Galway and Kathleen Egan of Watertown and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, John and Thomas Egan; in-laws, Stanley Sreda, Thomas Higgins, John ‘Jack’ Byrd , Myles Glynn, Paul Frazier, Mary “Una” Egan and Angela Joyce.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bridie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, December 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lackagh, Co. Galway, Ireland.
