Mr. Bolton S.M. "Bob" Wong, of Peabody, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in Brooksby Villiage in Peabody. He was 91 years old,
Bob was born in Boston on March 8, 1931, a son of the late Hop and Quan (Shee) Wong. Raised in Waltham, he was a graduate of Waltham High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home he worked for the Waltham Watch Factory and later Honeywell Bull for more than twenty-five years as an electronic technician.
Retirement afforded him the ability to pursue his many interests. He loved model trains, a passion he shared with his beloved grandson, Max. In addition he loved treating his family to ice cream and always enjoyed a good tennis match.
Bob was a lifelong member of the American Legion and served as past commander of the Chinatown Legion Post.
He was predeceased by his wife, the late Sandra K.Y. Wong, as well as his brothers and sisters, Edward Wong, Allan Wong, Florence Yuen, Francis Wong, Priscilla Lee, and Clifford Wong.
He leaves his daughter, Rebecca Shapiro (Michael) of Wilmington, his grandson, Max Shapiro, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for a calling hour on Saturday, July 9th, beginning at 9 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 10 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
