Beverly A. (Cote) Sullivan

Shrewsbury - Beverly A. (Cote) Sullivan, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2026. She was 95.

Beverly was born November 19, 1930, at home in Millbury, a daughter of the late Leo E. and Anna G. (Betters) Cote. A graduate of Millbury High School, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Worcester State College. In her 1952 yearbook it was written “Bev…the most petite of all, will always be remembered for her sweet disposition and readiness to lend a helping hand. Her demure appearance conceals an ever-present, sense of humor and understanding nature. Sincere in all she does, Bev has won a place in all our hearts.’

She married Worcester native Henry A. Sullivan on August 6, 1955, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. They made their home in Shrewsbury, where they raised their family. Henry died on † July 13, 2017.

Prior to staying home to raise her three children, Beverly was a teacher in the Worcester Public School System. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, and she devoted herself to creating a loving home for her husband and children.

Beverly enjoyed the friendships she made through membership in the Shrewsbury Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. She took great pride in making her house a home and was an excellent cook who delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends and enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She also welcomed any opportunity for a shopping excursion and could always be counted on to enjoy the outing. Beverly will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, devotion to family, and the many friendships she treasured throughout her life.

In addition to her beloved husband, Henry, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, John D. Dunphy († July 16, 2024) and brothers, Richard, Robert and Leo Cote.

She leaves her children, Henry A. Sullivan (Cheryl) of Northville, Michigan, James L. of Beverly Hills, California and Anne E. Dunphy of Shrewsbury; two grandsons, Timothy Sullivan (Alaina) and Daniel Sullivan (Jennifer); three great granddaughters, Aubrey, Hailey and Elizabeth Sullivan; a niece, Cathleen Hanrahan (Joseph) and nephew, Clifford Fontaine (Janice).

Family and friends will honor Beverly’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake on Friday, September 11th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, followed by her funeral Mass celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

The family wishes to thank Alliance Health at Coleman House in Northborough for their care of Beverly as well as her longtime caretakers, Jennifer Martinez, Gladys Augustin, Esther Faustin and Ellen Moreau.
