Beatrice I. Wheeler

Mrs. Beatrice I. (Hauptman) Wheeler, of Ohio, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in West Lake, Ohio. She was 102.

Beatrice was born October 27, 1921 in Needham a daughter of the late Francis and Rose Lillian (Brady) Hauptman. Raised in Needham she graduated from Needham High School with the class of 1938. She married Francis J. Wheeler Jr. on April 14, 1945 in Saint Joseph Church in Needham.

Beatrice worked as a cashier for Value Village in Waltham for many years.

Throughout her life she lived in Needham, Millis, South Carolina, and lastly in Ohio. In early years she loved ice-skating on Rosemary Lake in Needham. She loved music as well but especially country genre.

In addition to her husband, Francis she is predeceased by their son, Bruce R. Wheeler and siblings, Anna Harris and Lillian Ferrara.

She leaves her children, Thomas F. Wheeler and his wife, Judy of Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio and Judith A. Luther of Latta, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Tracy Cox and her husband, Junior, Mark Luther, Scott Luther, Susan Walters and her husband, Ryan, David Wheeler and his wife, Susie, and Robin Wheeler; eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; her sister, Marion Schiavone and her husband, Paul, of Newton Upper Falls; nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Beatrice’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, November 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
