Beatrice L. Tosi

March 10, 1937 — September 24, 2025

Westborough, MA

Westborough – Beatrice L. Tosi, 88, formerly of Shrewsbury and Yarmouth Port, died September 24, 2025, after a long illness. She was born in Worcester, on March 10, 1937, daughter of Joseph A. Tosi and Muriel B. (Olin) Tosi.

Bea grew up in Sterling with her three older brothers and her horse, dog, and chickens. Her love of animals continued throughout her life. She attended Notre Dame Academy, a member of the first graduating class, in Worcester, Trinity College in Washington, DC, and Anna Maria College in Paxton for her MA and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies.

Bea was an educator, with a respected career of over 40 years. She began her teaching career at the former Ward School in Shrewsbury, then was an English and American Studies teacher at Shrewsbury High School, retiring in 1999. She served many times as a class, yearbook, and cheerleading advisor. Bea helped countless students with private tutoring and SAT Preparation courses.

Prior to her teaching career, Bea spent time in Peru with her brother Joe and his family. He decided Bea should have an adventure on her way home, so he sent her on an odyssey down the Amazon River, leading to many misadventures and a lifetime of stories, including getting rescued by the daughter of the British Ambassador.

Teaching gave Bea summers off, which she enjoyed to the fullest. She travelled each summer to a different European country and with her mother to Sweden. Bea taught sailing at Regatta Point for many years, until golf became her passion.

Bea loved being on the golf course with her friends. She enjoyed countless rounds at Indian Meadows, Holden Country Club, and Bass River on Cape Cod. She won the Mass State Amateur Championship twice and was the past president of the Worcester County Golf Association.

Bea was a longtime Shrewsbury resident. She later enjoyed full-time life and living on Cape Cod in Yarmouth Port before returning to Central Mass to make Westborough home. Retirement afforded Bea wonderful opportunities to travel throughout the country and Europe with her dear friend, Roberta Dolan.

Bea’s mother converted to Catholicism when she married and Bea carried her mother’s love of the Catholic faith throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Bea was predeceased by her brothers Joseph A. Tosi Jr, Olin C. (Chich) Tosi, and Peter A. Tosi.

Beatrice leaves her nieces and nephews, Alex Tosi (Mary) of Fort Myers, FL, David Tosi (Bev) of Pfafftown, NC, Paul Tosi of Sterling, Andrea Tosi of Middlefield, Sandra Tosi (Paul Maidment) of Pomfret, CT, and Robert Tosi (Jo-Ann Dery) of Littleton; many great-nieces and nephews, and her longtime friend, Roberta Dolan of Westborough. She was predeceased by her niece, Lucinda Tosi and her nephews, Jonathan Tosi and Stephen Tosi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bea’s life by gathering at St. Mary of the Hills in Boylston, MA, Friday October 24, 2025, with visitation from 10 - 11 am, followed by a Mass celebrated at 11 AM. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Sterling is private.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Town of Shrewsbury (in memo: Colonial Fund), Shrewsbury Public Schools Colonial Fund, 100 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA 01545, to support student enrichment programs.

Arrangements by James + John Heald of The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham.
