Anna M. (Tiano) McCue

June 15, 1929 — September 6, 2020

Weston – Mrs. Anna Marie (Tiano) McCue, of Weston, formerly of Waltham, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 91.

Anna was born in Waltham on June 15, 1929 to the late Jenny (Fucci) Tiano Njus and Frank Tiano. She graduated from Waltham High School in 1947. She met her husband, World War II Navy vet Walter McCue while she was in high school and the pair married shortly after her graduation. She went on to work at the Waltham Watch Factory before leaving to raise her family. After her children were grown she went back to work at the Chateau Restaurant on School Street for twenty-five years. After retiring she earned her business certificate and worked in the offices of Century Glass on Lexington Street, owned by her brother, Frank Tiano and his family.

She was a resident of Waltham where she spent 89 years of her life before moving to assisted living at Maplewood at Weston. There she enjoyed her last years creating new friendships, learning new things, and living her best life and doing it to the fullest. She was active in mind, body, and spirit but she lived each and every day for her family.

The love and pride that Anna had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren is what filled her life with true happiness. She was always surrounded by someone in the family whether it was at a baseball game, attending a dance recital, going shopping or to a birthday party. Family vacations to the Cape, across the country to California, Florida, and on road trips to the Carolinas created many happy memories. She was always "in" well into her eighties; always a woman on the go and would never decline an invitation to go anywhere with her family.

Anna was also a masterful baker and loved to spoil her family with one of her delicious creations. Outside of the kitchen she enjoyed dancing, exercising, or a game of rummikub . . . simple joys that kept her young in mind and body.

She was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Walter McCue and loving mother of Frank McCue (Gayle) of Waltham, Janet McCue-Oliver (Dave) of Tampa, Florida, Richard McCue (Lorraine) of Waltham, and Cheryl Cullen (James) of Walpole. She also leaves her grandchildren, Amy Chiasson (Michael), Katie Volante (David), John McCue (Emily), Jodi Maroney (Scott), Keith Oliver (Beth), Michael McCue (Kimberly), Matthew McCue (Chelsea), Timothy (Krisi), Brett McCue, Paige Cullen, and Brooke Cullen; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Connor, and Lily Chiasson, Ryan, William, Graham, and Maegan Volante, Taylor Finley, Kyle, Troy, and Ryan Oliver, Julia and Kenzie Maroney, and Jack, Calvin, Ashley, Julianne, Jillian, Michael, Cole, Nathan, Quinn, and Maeve McCue; her great-great-grandchild, Jace Burgos; her sister and brother, Doris Muirhead and Larry Njus, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Frank and Roy Tiano.

Family and friends will honor and remember Anna's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, September 11th from 4 to 8 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
