Ann C. (Callahan) Dick

September 12, 1926 — July 31, 2021

Ann Dick passed away peacefully in Concord, New Hampshire on July 31, 2021, just weeks before her 95th birthday. She was born in Saratoga Springs, New York and grew up in nearby Schuylerville, where father, Edward Callahan, M.D., was a general practitioner.

After a brief time in Albany, NY studying to be a teacher, Ann moved to Long Island where she graduated from Adelphi University's College of Nursing and Public Health in 1947. While there, Ann was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She had a rewarding career in nursing with endless riveting and riotous tales. Ann eventually married the love of her life, James Dick, M.D., a pediatrician in Oyster Bay and Levittown. Together they traveled the world and raised nine children in their beloved home in Oyster Bay Cove, New York.

Ann leaves a long legacy of love and caring for others. She is affectionately remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her and enjoying her incredible wit, intellect, beauty, style, and generosity. She had a boundless capacity for welcoming friends, new and old, and unconditional love.

Ann was a stunning dancer (especially with Jim) and was the belle of every ball. She loved completing The NY Times Sunday crossword in pen, puns, making up limericks, playing tennis, traveling, laughing, and watching sports (she was a diehard Yankees fan). She was also the biggest fan of her children and their
children and their children's children.

Ann was predeceased by her knight in shining armor, Jim; her youngest son, Jimmy and her brother, Bob.

She is survived by her children: Deirdre Walsh, Robert Walsh, Esq., Siobain Feyler (Sven), Brendan Walsh, Alison Dick, Esq., (Don Jeka), Margaret Cyphers (Jeff), Jamie Dick, Leslie Dick M.D. (Steve Gurney), seventeen grand and five great grandchildren. She will be missed
and remembered in all that they do.

Ann was a beautiful bright star who left the world a better place.

In lieu of flowers, Ann's family respectfully requests that you consider making a donation to Adelphi University's Women's Giving Circle, adelphi.imodules.com/wgc, in memory of Ann Dick.
