Dear Friends,

If a death has occurred it is our sad duty and an honored privilege to take care of your loved one during this difficult time. We want you to take a breath and find comfort in knowing that we are here to help you navigate this process. As for any immediate need or concern, we are available by phone, email, video conference, and in-person appointment to talk about the necessary next steps. No decisions need to be made right away and some cannot be made right away.

At times like this, funeral rituals and traditions are important, and it is our job as funeral professionals to create a healing time and place to say goodbye to your loved one. The necessary events that help to honor, to remember, and to begin to heal are important for you and your immediate family, and also for family and friends that care deeply about you.

Below is the list of information that will be needed now or in the near future. Let this list direct you as to what to start gathering when we begin to plan for the immediate future and initial conference.

To Bring or Have ready for Family Conference:

  • Full name and address of your loved one
  • Date of birth
  • City/Country of birth
  • Parent’s names (please include mother’s maiden name and parent’s birthplaces)
  • Family Names (Husband, Wife, Children, Grandchildren, Brothers, Sisters, etc.)
  • Social Security Number
  • If your loved one is a Military Veteran, please bring discharge paper (DD 214)
  • Years of education
  • Occupation and Employer
  • Hobbies, Interests, Personal Items
  • Affiliations (Church, clubs, organizations etc.)
  • Clothing / Jewelry
  • Cemetery Deed
  • 25 to 35 photographs representing Family, Friends and Special memories
  • Number of certified copies of Death Certificate

Over the time in between what needs to happen now and in the future use Your Family Guide to begin to think about planning the Life Celebration for your loved one.

Respectfully,

Frank Joyce

The Joyce Family guide is a tool we give to our families to begin sharing the story of their loved one’s life. You’ll find sections where you can fill in likes, hobbies, and interests. Feel free to add as much as you want. The more information you provide, the more personal each experience will become.
